Autumnal Renegade

Well, Renegade is back home on her mooring on the Orwell. By all accounts the trip back from the Solent was exhilarating with the ol’ gal just keeping ahead of an approaching gale. Well done Richard, Dennis Emma and friend.

Promotion for Chris

After extensive non-destructive testing of the heads following Chris and Nick’s refurbishment and general refettling of the apparatus, Neptune has decided to promote Chris to the position of leading heads engineer. Regrettably this does not attract an increase in pay. The hours and other conditions of service remain the same.

Where was Renegade in July?

Renegaders have been busy. In the past month Renegade has visited the Channel Islands, Weymouth, Dartmouth, Salcombe, Falmouth and the Scilly Isles. Today she is at Weymouth awaiting a change of crew.

Some notable events:     Renegaders were outright winners of the Dittisham pub quiz.

Mermaids sighted at Strete in Devon.

                                    No major breakages!

Awarded to Chris for lavatorial services above and beyond the call of duty. Posted by Hello

Where's Renegade on Friday?

Renegade is lying at Custom House Quay, Weymouth after, what is reported to have been, a most enjoyable cruise; marred only by problems with the heads. These have been fixed by Chris with disregard for personal safety for which he has been awarded the position of “heads dismantler, second class”.

Renegaders offer him their sincere congratulations.

The UFO 34 cruiser/racer

The UFO 34 is a fin keel, masthead sloop designed as a cruiser/racer by Holman and Pye in the 1970s. They were built in UK and Australia. 25 owners have registered with this site (see link from Renegade Syndicate homepage)and there are now UFO 34s in Australia,Belgium,Denmark,England,France,Greece,Ireland,New Zealand,Northern Ireland,Scotland and Spain.
The UFO 34 has a reputation for robust construction and speed, although the accommodation is somewhat Spartan by modern standards.
Ufo 34s have cruised extensively including ocean crossings. Follow the link to Nangijala from the UFO list for an account (in Danish) and pictures of a transatlantic voyage.

Where's Renegade

Wednesday 7th July and Renegade's crew are looking for a quiet anchorage to sit out the forecast bad weather. Have a look at the weather forecast to see why. This will probably be in the Portsmouth area. But, by Saturday, the weather should have improved and Renegade will continue her voyage "down west".
