Tender thoughts

The tender behind-

-Salute The Battleship Potemkin, a Piersian invention.

"On the battleship Potemkin

            While seated in the bow,

Surveying Orwell River

            And trees upon the brow,

Of hills and pubs and churches,

        Yachts tacking with know-how;

There's nowhere else to match it

And to this I vow.

The Battleship Potemkin

            Has horses two point five;

No Quinquereme of Nineveh

            Is she who jumps and jives

And parts the waves Britannically

            'ore Orwell's chops and dives;

She is most proudly nonpareil

She'll even save our lives.

The Battleship Potemkin

            Is lacking not that much

            But barebreasted figurehead

            Plus convoluted gingerbread

            A lengthly line of swinging lead,

Would add the Nelson touch.
